FPYC VOLLEYBALL FAQS
FPYC Volleyball FAQs:
1. Who can play FPYC Volleyball?
Girls in grades 4-12 and boys in grades 4-6 are welcome to join our league regardless of skill level. If you don't know how to play, we will teach you. There are no tryouts - if you register you will be placed on a team provided we have enough coaches sign up to support the number of players.
2. How are the teams formed?
Teams are formed according to age/grade, not by skill level in three "divisions":
-
Elementary School (Grades 4-6)
-
Middle School (Grades 7-8)
-
High School (Grades 9-12)
3. When do the teams play?
Teams practice/play twice weekly. Practice nights and locations are determined by gym assignments within the city and county and coaches’ availability.
4. Can I request a particular team for my player?
Due to the impact on coaches and other players, we prefer not to make roster changes after teams are organized. FPYC only practices on weeknights. The nights and locations of team practices will be communicated to each coach, who will provide that information to their rosters.
5. What equipment is required to play FPYC volleyball?
Knee pads are the only specialized equipment required for participation. Knee pads may be purchased at local sporting goods stores or online. Players should also wear tennis shoes/sneakers. T-shirts are provided to all players at no additional cost. FPYC provides each coach with enough balls to use for practices and games.
